I have been searching for replacment seals and it seems a fair number of the aussies have been buying them from this american site: Auto Parts Fast at RockAuto

am I correct in assuming that the 280 SE rubbers will be the same as mine?

all in all comes to 200 USD delivered this includes sunroof seals, and all 4 doors.

I would think so and $200 is a great price. Could you not check the part No's with Brentford ? The only problem is that after the 280 there is a letter L which could mean the L in LWB, in that case the rear door seals would be to long, as that is where the Long is.

cool, lets see what the w116.org guys have to say...

Have you tried SLS? SLS Ersatzteile - Mercedes-Benz klassische PKW W111 W108 W114 etc

5th row down 3rd in shows W116 door seals amongst others. Good company to deal with (English on the phone) and worth a try even if what you want isn't listed. Bit on the expensive side though. :(

Aren't they still available from the dealers ? Or is it the cost issue ?

Mervyn Wright at MB Poole (Jacksons) is usually up on sourcing these things

That was my immediate thought - we've been led to believe MB can provide just about anything post-war.

And yes, I know it's a modern car, but when I replaced my boot rubber, MB was appreciably cheaper than Forest Fine.

There are a lot of parts not available anymore and its very frustrating.

I have just bought a W123 which had some non original plastic sill covers on.. within 5 minutes of getting it home I removed these as they just didnt look right. Problem was that to put this on the previous owner removed a rubber trim that forms a seal between the bottom of the door and the sill..
I assumed this rubber seal could just be ordered but nope.. no longer available.
Not many breakers have these W123 coupes in stock either.

Even the W123 guru mark cosovich can no longer get these and has to make up his own.

I have had many similar issues with my W126.. bits of trim no longer available in the proper colours, some rubber seals completely discontinued.

they dont list the 350 SE as it was wasn't available in US should be the same as any other SE version though.

If you are bringing stuff in from the States remember to add on HMRC's cut + vat, although it probably wont be a huge amount.

Is your car an SE or SEL? That's the only difference between the door seals on all panels. I put aftermarket seals on my 6.9 when I had it repainted but they don't fit great as you could hear a little whistling at speeds.

I'm sure that you can work them to make them fit better. The windscreen seal i the only one that can cause a real problem on the W116 if purchased aftermarket.
