Anyone know where I can get one and if they are ok to use? I need my Origin Blue on all the time.

Cheers

Do you mean one of these?

Steve

I use a 4 way adapter in mine, hidden out of view behind the ashtray, got it from Halfords. The only reason I use it is because the TomTom has a transformer built into the adaptor and I did not want to have it plugged into the ashtray all the time, otherwise I would splice into supply cables.

Why not fit the optional 12v socket from the estate version, in the glovebox or in the armrest somewhere?

A2025408834 : ELECTRIC CABLE : EUR 33.22
A0015458728 : PIN BUSHING HOUSING : EUR 1.22
A0075458426 : PIN BUSHING : EUR .78 (X2)
A0085458226 : PLUG SOCKET : EUR 1.02
A2108200951 : FITTING MOLD : EUR 9.07

With the exception of the cable it's a really cheap oem mod. The cable could be replaced with some other wiring from B&Q or somewhere for pennies.

Here is how it looks in it's natural habitat:

Cool - That should be perfect for an in-car mini fridge :D

Ian, I spliced mine and hard wired it to the back of the cigar lighter, makes for a very neat install.

Halfords sell these double sockets if you did want one.

could be a cross marque mod ;)

in regards to the B2 , just splice into your ciggy socket from behind and hard wire the B2 into the circuit. remembering to add an inline fuse or similar .

Thanks for the replys but I don t want to hard wire as I want to use the Camera det and Satnav in both cars. I going to get a double adaptor.

Cheers

Doesn't mean you couldn't hard wire in both cars!

Hi

Old thread, but I have just done this mod to my W124 estate. I have wired it up to have a constant 12v source. I plan on using it mainly to plug in the kids tv's in the rear of the car, so constant is better so it stays on if i switch off the ignition at a shop etc.

i ordered all the parts listed above (apart from the wiring), however i found i actually only needed:

A0075458426 : PIN BUSHING : EUR .78 (X2)
A2108200951 : FITTING MOLD : EUR 9.07

i will try and post an image of the unit installed in my 124. I fitted it just above the wheel arch in the boot. I drilled a smallish hole 1st in the trim (bit scrary to begin with) and then using a file, i filed it down to a snug size to fit the socket into.

Well worth it and only around £10 in total :) i bought my wire from Halfords.

OK ... I thought it was coming as standard... as when I got the car... had it in. I found it useful to have 3 cigarette lighters.

One as normal in the ashtray and 2 under the upper part of the armrest. Looked so confincing as it was already installed there :D
It even has a small black plastic unit to put in coins (3 slots) ... I found this useful as well ... although I do not run a minicab company lol.
