Yes we used to do all sorts of crazy things back in those far off times, :bannana: I used to keep my mothers old DAF variomatic,we used to go over a deserted factory estate and drive the car backwards as fast as we dared, came to a end when I drove it front first through a deep puddle and swamped the engine and it siezed up,another dangerous thing we did was if a car had a complicated timing belt we would get a stanley knife and run it on tick over and with a steady hand cut the belt through using the top pulley then get the new belt slip it half on then cut the rest of the old belt, job doneDon`t have to ruin the kitchen...lol
In the sixties we used to bung a potato up one end of the silencer and pour hot caustic soda in the other end and leave overnight .....if it didn`t get all the carbon dissolved or loosened it then went on a bonfire which finally did the trick.
BUT caustic soda is very dangerous stuff to use!
