The missus recently bought a 2010 c250 diesel and everything was good until the eml came on and car went into limp mode. I have used the search function on here and in google and read loads of topics but can’t find any definitive answers.
Having recently mapped and diagnosed faults on all my previous cars I thought I’d try my vagcom cable to see if it’ll read the error codes which to my surprise it did.
Through up an emission limit exceeded fault so tried to reset the eml and take it for a long run.
Car wouldn’t come out of limp mode though so booked in to my local garage.
They put it on their machine put in a tin of dpf cleaner and tried a regen which didn’t do anything. They put in another tin and asked us to take the car on some long drives and bring it back in a few days.
Another visit and still no difference and the reading was 360% and wasn’t dropping which confuses me as I’d imagine 100% would be the maximum.
Anyways I bought and replaced the dpf sensor and reset the eml using my vagcom but car woun come out of limp mode.
My questions are:-

Will the car do a regen when in limp mode?

Does a icarsoft mb v2 allow you to manually initiate a regen and take vehicle out of limp mode?

If no to above what is the cheapest way to acquire star setup?

What options do I have? New DPF is hella dear.

Thanks in advance

Dpf removal , egr off, Stage 1 file .

Do you mean gut the dpf and remap it out? I went to my local performance centre and was told dpf delete remaps got withdrawn by superchips and unsure if there is anyone nearby to me in Fife that does it.

icarsoft claim that their kit will initiate DPF regen, but generally they will not. I have MB11 and while it appears to have lots of functionality, it is limited in what it can actually do, I gave up and bought Star in the end.

And one illegal car which fails the MOT later.

OP, what were the fault codes that the ECU was reporting. If you don't rectify these faults then a regen, even forced will not happen. Did the garage just try to force a regen after pouring in some DPF cleaner? If that was their solution then its not somewhere I would be going again. Resolve the fault which is keeping it in limp mode, a forced regen will not get initiated, even by Mercedes Star whilst this is still an issue.

Mot pass .

Nope , dpf surgery is carried out on blind side and often obstructed view by covers anyway .

Good remapping ensures there's no reason it can't get under the manufacturers smoke coefficient value of usually 0.50 ( max of 6 accelerations allowed ).

I've a remapped 1.9 VAG Euro 3 ( non dpf with an unfair 0.60 VIN ) and it fast passes at 0.34 and it hasn't even a cat !

A Euro 5 in the family minus dpf and it passes .

The fault code was p2463 excessive soot accumulation

Just go for a long run in 2-3 gear with high revs and maximum speed and it will remove the soot. Otherwise call Mercedes or RAC for them to do the regeneration. This needs to happen on A Roads or motorways. If you are doing more city driving the filter gets contaminated really quickly. Best to go On motorways or A roads to clear it out on a weekly basis.

I had similar issue when i bought my c250 on 2011 took it to afew garages including mercedes specialists all of them told me i need a new dpf.
However i called a mobile dpf cleaner he checked and told me nothing was wrong with the dpf.
He figured out the problem and it turned out to be snapped screws in the inlet manifold.
So had the inlet manifold and egr replaced and since then its been perfect.

plot thickens, dpf been cleaned 3 or 4 times various things replaced. merc checked it said was fine and broke down again driving away but mec wasnt interested grr. so problem now.it keeps going into limp mode . no further forward

DPF removal is illegal.

Do you guys have any concerns about the environment.
If your DPF gets clogged often than means you didn't need a diesel car....

DPF and EGR delete topics should be banned from the forums
Didn't realise Greeting Thunderberg was a member of our forum?

I think in towns the air quality has improved .

Remember the 70's, leaded petrol , and right now every chimney would be belching black coal smoke .

:eek::eek::eek: you fiveO

I’m still having the same problem.
3 times it’s been to a garage. All 3 times it gets a clean and reset with figure back down but almost the next day it triggers eml with boost pressure issues then a day later back to dpf excessive soot which it simply can’t be after a couple days of use.
Pulling my hair out now it has developed a coolant leak and what seems leak a worn power steering pump as judders and squeals when under load at tick over.
