DPF mystery om651

I went to two indys actually, one said he simply did not know, the other did the dpf clean, diff pressure sensor change and software update. Now even the second indy is clueless as there are no fault codes to help. The fact that the car is running well does not help either.

I am tempted to spray some cleaner into the dpf, reset the adaptations and hopefully that can keep me going for a while

Do you know what the original codes were if any?

That's what I would do and have a look on youtube, there's lots of different solutions you can try. If your fill level lowers more than 40% you'll know what the issue is.

I'm assuming the second indy told the car he had fitted a 'new' dpf?

Yes he did the adaptations. Afterwards, the dpf used to regen from 100% to around 8% or 10%.

Then it got progressively worse after regen - 100% to 32% and now 40%. If I clean it again and the soot level drops after regen, can I assume the dpf is near its end of life?

There were no codes, i just noticed a lot of regens, so indy hooked up the scanner and saw that the regen ratio was coming close to the point where the eml would be trigerred

Yes I think if it drops to near 0 and climbs quickly then you have to say it must be damaged. How often are you changing the oil, I wouldn't leave it too normal service schedules with that frequent regens?

I change the oil every 10k miles to be on the safe side, sometimes even less

Intercooler pipes burst ? Have you checked the read outs from all the other sensors like the exhaust pressure sensor ? Pre / post DPF temperature etc.
