E220 w211 starts then splutters to a stop. no warning lights or codes as yet. remove exhaust system and cleaned egr, replaced diesel filter but still cuts out after after a minute. Any ideas?

How many miles on the engine?

Is this hot or cold? (assuming cold because you can't run it to get it hot)

Have you checked the air filters?

What code scanner have you used?

Could it be low on fuel?

When it was off how dirty was the EGR? Could the air intakes be fully of thick oil slime gunk?

Why not just get the fault codes read , it’s cheaper and easier than guessing ? Cancel that , just read your post properly :)

Low fuel pressure is usually the cause of cutting out.

You need to look at the live data to see what is happening. I would also do a leak off check.

thanks for that. 230k on engine, ran cold, tried air filter on and off. egr was great really. tiny bit of build up. stranded on a farm without code reader so trying to do it the old way. plenty of fuel. diesel getting to injectors. kept air box on without filter so sensors are on.

as mentioned before, get live data or at least get codes read to save yourself a lot of diagnosis and time,
