Guys could someone explain to me what the car feels like when it's regening the DPF filter? Also please explain how often this should occur and at what speed and how long for? Thanks
You may find that the revs increase and / or the car holds onto lower gears for longer, ie keeping the revs up and thus heating up the exhaust temperature.
If majority of mileage is at motorway speeds, I suspect that you might not really be aware that it's happening.
Frequency will depend on driving style. I've seen suggestions of approx 300 miles between regenerations, but have no idea whether that is accurate.
I have done 286k miles in mine so don't know or couldn't even guess how many regens it has performed, but the only time I notice anything is a smell like burning rubber if I happen to get out of the car whilst it is on a regen or literally just completed one.
iv not long done DPF course and basically if your on a long run your car will automatically re gen (soft regen) without you even knowing, it will only do a hard re gen if the filter is really blocked, most systems will only regen if the EML is off and service light is OFF!! Its important if you service your own car with a dpf that you re- set the service light as the ecu needs to think it has good quality oil as any regen makes the engine work a little harder temperature wise.
My dad is experiencing a shudder light off one cylinder and was wondering if this was the DPF regeneration starting? If he puts accelerator down it drops gear and shudder goes away
