car in limp mode (or gimp mode as my mrs calls it) :(

no turbo

try to erase code - comes back even without starting the engine. Checked software still erases codes on other 'faults' - works fine.

Swapped pressure sensor for known good one off my w202 (same part number)

removed the 'dieselman egr delete mod' - still shows back without starting the engine

checked wiring as per http://www.autolib.diakom.ru/CAR/Mercedes-Benz/1997/E300/SYSTEM WIRING DIAGRAMS/6186.pdf
completely incorrect except the 'sense' wire pin 1 of sensor (bottom right in pdf) does go to Pin 22 of the ECU. wire colours all wrong.

Have a low voltage (5v) at pin 3(iirc) and a 70 ohm resistance to earth on pin 2 (or the other way round) with plug unplugged.

any ideas?
 
Solved - wire to now unused vacuum EGR transducer had come off - didnt think it would affect it as its not in use! Anyway, I think thats what it was.

also - EGR delete mod works (so far) with a 1K ohm resistor instead of the stated 470 ohm
