Also I thought that R reg would be facelift, but it doesnt seem to have the arm rest in the front - was that not standard by then?

Well spotted, that said why badge it like that in the first place for something it just aint.

It is a facelift yes but a very early one and being an Espirt model the arm rest was not standard and neither was rear electric windows at the time.

Me thinks those lenses look a bit on the barry side to be honest. The facelift factory smoked lenses are by far the best for the W202.

People do it. I worked with a guy who had an N reg E220 badged as E320. I thought it was a 320 for 4 years until he told me. Makes a change from de-badging I suppose!

Or is it simply that he's driven it so hard the suspension and tyres are both shot, and you slide off the road if you hit a bump on a bend??

Fast & Furious has a lot to answer for. Not least the hike in value of Nissan 200SX - they were a bargain before.

LSD, not necessarily the one in the back axle...
