Can anyone pls tell me the part number for a 1996 W202 Driver Side Mirror - just the glass?
Sigh ... wife was driving and a bus clipped the driver side mirror. Only the glass went flying, the housing cover stayed put (must have surely snapped fwd and back again). I wasn't there else would have gone looking for the glass (it might have survived having the plastic backing and all). Anyway, father in law took car to MB (here in Sydney) to get the mirror sorted (I couldn't). Car came back and I just saw it ... blimey what a waste of time ... the old man doesn't know any better (but constantly claims to be a engineer guru
) They have surely put on the wrong mirror part. I didn't have to be an engineer I can tell. The mirror wasnt the same as the passenger side mirror missing the vertical line 2/3 along the mirror and the mirror surface furthest away from the door isn't distorted from the extra concave surface (to show more side image). They charged AUD$190 for the mirror and AUD$67 for labour. If I had known the old man was going to agree to the labour I'd charge him myself. The new mirror they put on is inferior spec to mine - it hasn't the same quality tint, and vibrates to the point of blurring - dangerous to use really. I want to do my own research and source pricing and alternatives anyone know any? Happy to call UK numbers once I get the part number right.
