Driver side Mirro fold-back not working

I have a C180K SE Coupe (2005). When I operate my exterior mirror fold-back switch, the passenger mirror folds back but the driver doesn't move. If I push the mirror in it will not fold back out when the switch is operated and vice versa. I've checked the fuse and it is OK. Any thoughts or ideas please?

I had similar faults recently.
It is possibly the wiring in the mirror....it may be severed with the constant folding in and out...easy to repair.

Same here and had to replace all the innards. Cost the best part of £150 from a guy in the Merc Servicing Trade for parts and installation.

This is a very well-known issue. The wiring harness in the driver's door breaks (due to the driver's door getting all the use and causing the harness to flex).

Far better off getting this repairde by a good independant in my view..MB stealer may charge you for a whole new door harness + labour.

Is there a quick and relatively easy way to visually check the harness for damage? How do I gain access to the harness? I know that using an independent MB is recommended but I am on a tight budget.

I've just repaired ours for about £45 including buying a heat gun etc.

This post helped me a lot http://www.mbclub.co.uk/forums/bodywork/62215-w211-door-mirror.html. I presume that a W203 would be similar.

I would use this stuff though Miniature Extra Flexible Wire : Equipment Wire : Maplin - the wire I used was not minature and I have struggled because of it. May yet have to redo it, time will tell.
