we have a 1983 280SL, only 32000 miles owned since 1985, she is near 100%, the seats are MBTEX with check cloth pleated inserts, pale cream background and light brown over check, the drivers seat pleating we have a little wear, all the specialist firms have been most helpful but all the cloth samples have been too dark , I purchased 2 seats on ebay with the colour match looking good but on arrival they are just too dark, can anyone help please.

Or any leather repair company can recolour to match... Although im not a fan of the finish when they use leather paints...

Your material will have faded so getting new cloth to match will be very difficult.

    280SL seat

I have tried D Class and they gave samples, they were very helpful, cloth has not faded , rest of interior is perfect so do not want to retrim, Have examined the seat in areas which would not fade and colour is the same, possibly due to my wife liking the hardtop on, and it is her car. the seats I bought on ebay were from a 1993 W123, very good condition but just too dark, even wondered if a dilute bleach might lighten.
