2017 Audi RS6 Avant Performance Edition. Range Rover Supercharged - Lovely!
A interesting watch.

How cars have moved on since 1969.

I wonder if the initial oil loss that appeared to fix itself was a misread upon setting off?

I've watched that several times, Harry is the most watchable car enthusiast out there as far as I'm concerned. It's all about the cars and not the egotistical presenter I find appealing.

I was tempted to buy an old Shadow/Bentley from specialists Hanwells in London but they had a nice XK8 which I ended up with instead.

Yes, he's great and very easy to watch and gives a good account of everything. :thumb:

Given how cheap they can be to buy these days, I was thinking I'd perhaps buy one, if only to run for a year or so, just to have done it.
One day the chance might not be there and I'd kick myself as I have done for not flying a Concorde pleasure trip for a mere £350.
I've been on board Concorde but never actually flown in it.

Hanwells isn’t a million miles away from me either and I’ve had a few walk arounds over the years.

There’s is/was another dealer at Gillette Corner that was equally as impressive.

I am hankering after either a V8 AMG of some sort, but not a 2 door, or Audi RS6 Avant or the Avant V10 and I'd love to waft around in an old Bentley or Rolls for a while.

We will not be able to enjoy these cars for much longer.

When I was an apprentice the boss had an D plate Bentley 8. With a chauffeur wearing a hat. It was a lovely car.

The boss was proper old school, like old Mr Grace from Are You Being Served.

That was an absolute beauty, really stunning. In fact it was probably the best a man can get.

Sorry. I’ll get my coat.
Just googled it and it’s still there.

I don’t do regrets but I would love to have flown on Concorde. Like you Paul, I have been on one - albeit a static display at Brooklands Museum - but it was absolutely blooming fantastic.

My father in law was fortunate enough to have flown on it several times and he absolutely loved it. Swine.

Me and a crowd of lads went out to America on Boxing Day 1988 for the wedding of another mate and his American bird.

We flew from Heathrow to New York and then on to Dallas which is where the wedding took place.

The price for Concorde to fly London-New York-Heathrow was a only shade under 2 grand!! We stupidly flew Air India.

Blimey. No doubt the right decision at the time. There would have no reason to believe it would ever be taken out of service back then.

I'll let you know if I decide to sell the RS6 one day and if our paths cross at some point you can go for a spin.
It only had around 28,000 miles on it when I bought it in March and only has circa 30,000 now, because I've hardly used it due to lockdowns and a few other factors.

It's the performance edition and the 3rd and best one I've had and a real wothwhile owning experience.

There's just something about that trip and that car, even though it had a few blips on the way.

Great to see he got to see the Northern Lights.

My ex wife many years ago used to work for BA at Heathrow and always wanted to fly on Concorde but I always thought it was a bit pretentious and said no.

I used to work quite close by and at about 5pm some days would hear it take off and it sounded like thunder even through triple glazed windows. I regularly saw it being towed into the hanger across the road and couldn't believe how small it was. Something like a 90 seater?

Oh how I wish I had taken a trip now. I thought it was the future and prices would get cheaper.:wallbash:

Thanks OP, I've been an avid follower of Harry's Garage and Farm for yonks, but I've never committed the 37mins for the vid until this Friday evening when I remembered that virgin offers youtube on the tv. What a great trip and I intend to do it in my E500, too.

What sort of weird motoring video was that? No drifting round every bend, no converting the car into a sleigh, no mounting a yak on the roof (nor any associated innuendos), no crashing into other cars, no standing around with hands in pockets while someone else fixes the car, no pulling ridiculous faces, no childlike yelps every 30 seconds, no taking off panels to make the car go faster! Getting his jacket caught in the bonnet was the only hint of a real motoring show - it just lacked the loud guffaws of fellow presenters.

Loved it.

I was fascinated how he merely adjusted the points for “a gap” without any measuring.

About 20 years ago I had the use of a 1970ish Bentley T1 (the Silver Shadow equivalent) for a couple of weeks. It was a lovely car but a bit of a worry driving it around the narrow roads in the Cotswolds where I picked it up. Definitely a motorway car, as long as you kept an eye on the speedo because there was no sense of just how fast the car was going.
