Driving Assistant Package Installed?

Hi all, I am writing this on behalf of my father as the interweb is a tad beyond him. I am trying to help him out, I am in CA USA and he lives in Shropshire UK.

He has a 2015 C class Estate which he think should have the DAP or Lane assist etc installed as he has 2 cameras either side of the rear view mirror. I checked and he has all of the hardware but there is no settings in the car (checked it out when I was home Oct last year)

He ordered the car without it but the garage received a car sooner to his spec with DAP etc which he thinks they disconnected to give him what he wants. Each time he talks to the dealer they tell him its not there (he is 79 and they treat him like an old dodderer to be honest).
I'm no expert but if there are 2 forward facing cameras either side of the rear view mirror, is it possible he has what is required and can simply get the car programmed?

I've searched the internet and can find nothing to help him out so reaching out to the gurus.

The garage told him there are no cameras, they told him the wiring loom is different. My uncle has the same car with no DAP and there are no cameras or places for it, looks totally different.

Appreciate any help, he just wants it turned on to be a happy MB camper

If you can get the VIN number from your Dad I think one of the more helpful members on here can run a check and see exactly which options it left the factory with.

Yeah this tells me what it does but I need to validate if its there in its entirety.

It is very difficult to "uncode" the car for such options, so the chance of a MB dealer doing this is just about zero - especially as there is no financial benefit for them to waste their time and if the option was on the car they'd either charge for it, or perhaps give it as extra discount and have a happy customer.

There are cameras (different depending on what the options are) installed there for a number of options including
Headlamp Assist (auto-high-beam)
Lane Assist (i.e watching the lane markings)
Traffic Sign Assist (watching speed limits, and no entry signs etc)

So if your dad's car has any of those (and I think TSA comes packaged with COMAND in UK) then he'll have some cameras there.

If you have Traffic Sign Assist, it is possible to add Lane Assist but it needs new steering wheel, new column switch pack, software (chargeable) and a load of coding. The steering wheel is expensive normally !

Looking at EPCnet you seem to have the windscreen with the camera holes (because you have the light weight windscreen with the DAB antennas), and thus you don't actually have a camera behind, just a blanking plastic thing.

As an aside, the simplest way to tell if a car has the DAP (which includes Blind Spot Assist) is that there are small triangles around an inch in from the outer edge of the door mirror glass that illuminate amber when you switch on the ignition.
