Driving on an A-road with the bonnet up - Mercedes Dealer!

Can someone keep this thread updated please once Mercedes come out with some platitudes or perhaps they have sack a valeter or a subby. Wont be one of theirs will it?

About 40 years ago, my old boy had a Ford Corsair. Either it was in the days before they had a hook latch at the front of the bonnet or else his was bust, I don't know.

Anyway, one day after doing a bit of maintenance he didn't close the bonnet properly. While driving along at about 40mph, the air got under the lip and all but tore the bonnet up and back. Bent bonnet, damaged windscreen, new underpants - the full monty. It was a fast road with grass along one side which is where he ended up, in a car where you can't steer where you can't see.

I'm amazed some halfwit would try it deliberately.

I think what actually happened was the mechanic was told to have a look under star he was just waiting for it to get dark and just thought he could kill 2 birds with one stone check under star and conclude the test drive! :thumb:

Tony.

I'm not sure what the problem is here - if you put the sat nav on its highest resolution then you don't need to bother looking at the road. The parking sensors will (maybe) warn you if you're about to run anyone over.

Certainly the person driving doesn't seem to be even trying to look through the space under the bonnet.
