No so fast car now !
My daughter has a Fiat 500 that's a really great car to drive. My trouble is that the peddle box is small and I have large feet.
I have been advised that specialist driving shoes may help.
I won't drive the car again until I can use the car safely.

What size feet have you got?

My bro had an Abarth and he had no issues with his size 10’s. I drove it and while it felt tighter than my Porsche I soon got used to driving it with size 11 Timberlands or steelies.

Have a look at these. Much cooler than driving shoes.

I have a pair of Puma Drift Cat 5 which were excellent when I had my Mazda MX-5. Don't use them so much now, but they are still good for driving.

Feet are size 11

I’m a size 10.5 in a wide fitting shoe or roundup to 11 for a standard shoe, and I squeeze my tootsies in the some fairly bijou driver’s footwells. I wear loafer-style driving shoes everyday and everywhere except when I go in to the office. They’re perfect for driving and comfy generally.

The two brands I wear most have recently stopped making them - Pilotti and Ugg - which is a shame as both great quality for the money. Look for a moccasin or loafer with a part fabric/leather and part thin-rubber sole wherever you would usually buy your shoes.

+1 for PUMA. These are thin and figure hugging so they won’t jut out like some of the space boots on the market. Not comfortable for walking so would keep a separate pair to swap to after the drive. Unlimited budget? Sparco or OMP.

Tods Gominos are the famous,

but there are lots of driving shoes around.

But would you really swop shoes to drive?

If your fathers wore these shoes then you’ve got siblings somewhere.

It was the ladies who used to make the big fuss about changing shoes "to drive" back in the 60's & 70's....

And then there are all those Italian males....

But "driving shoes" are still a "thing" for some.

To me they just look like expensive shoes that maybe Elton John or Conor McGregor might wear.

What do you think the factory workers who load the cars wear? The dockers unloading the ships? The transporter drivers, technicians etc?

I have size 10-11 feet (varies depending on brand & style) and have never had a problem in any car in the last 45+ years. Autos are easier of course, but I've owned many small manual cars (Citroen C1 at the moment, Fiat 126 / Minis / Metro / Micras /etc. in the past). I just drive in whatever I happen to be wearing. I do have a pair of Adidas trainers that are significantly narrower than anything else and would use those if I ever did have an issue.

Unless you wear heavy work boots or platform shoes, you probably just need to get used to it.

It's an old FIAT 500 complaint, going back a decade,

that the pedals are too close for some folks with big feet. It's not just @Fastcar155
It appears to be a FIAT thing,, not just a 500 complaint ...East Of England Ambulance Service have replaced Sprinters with Ducatos much to the dismay of many staff. Apart from not being able to get the seat back far enough if you're anywhere near 6 feet tall, another complaint is "Drivers in work boots finding pedals too close together, resulting in the accelerator being pressed instead of the brake"

Years ago I did a Jonathan Palmer day at Bruntingthorpe and the only car where foot size was mentioned as a possible issue was the Fiat 500 ... oops no, I mean the Caterham Superlight :D They had a picture of one that had met the Armco at speed after someone's foot got stuck, and IIRC they had narrow shoes to borrow before driving it if necessary.

"Not that i'm racist but..." I think it's a traditional Italian thing. "Small people, small feet, and small...." space between the pedals.

That's where the "Italian driving shoe" came from in the '60's
