Driving Tour in Scotland - must sees and does

Not a train spotter either, but I am intrigued by Victorian railways! Ah, the Tay Bridge Disaster, immortalised in the deathless verse of William McGonagle, universally held to be the worst poet who ever wrote in English.

HAHAH! Yas that's correct and the infamous architect Sir Thomas Bouch....whose name has been forever engraved in history with the derived term "a botch job" well thats what they say anyway :)

You flamin' well kept that one quiet...:D

Looks good - and a nice write-up on Tripadvisor. :thumb:

So when are we going to have a GTG at your gaff?

Yeh its not been open long but took 6 years to develop...red tape etc etc.

Im there every Sun working but my real 9-5 job as a computer games designer and producer means that im not in there all the time :(

So any sunday feel free to pop in and ask for me....i'll most certainly be about. :)

Very interesting to see the "before" and "after" views of the development on Google Streetview. My wife and her family are Dundonians so we're up there frequently. Very likely will pay you a visit!

BTW your website appears to be down though I got up the sample menu from the Wave 102 link.

Beautiful Railway Bridge of the Silv'ry Tay!
Alas! I am very sorry to say
That ninety lives have been taken away
On the last Sabbath day of 1879,
Which will be remember'd for a very long time.

The second less well known Tay bridge "disaster" [ road this time] was the subsequent bankruptcy of the main contractor Duncan Logan (Contractors) Ltd of Muir of Ord. The Tay Road Bridge is 2250m in length and spans the estuary of the river Tay between Dundee and Newport-on-Tay. The bridge was designed by William A Fairhurst and took three years to build between 1963 and 1966 at a cost of £4.8m. Altho his building company went bust his name was to live on in the small airline he founded Loganair which provided air travel to the Scottish Islands for many years

Hi

We are doing a road trip from London to Dundee on Friday, I wanted to take a more scenic route, however after the last two days weather reports sticking to the main roads may be the safest option.

In a sadistic kinda way, I am hoping to see some snow, so that I can test out the 4x4!

Dundee's really wierd...because its such a coastal city it very rarley see's snow and when it does (as it did a few months back) its only for a few days.

Inverness on the other hand.....
