Following on from Seans, Keith and my discussion what the lads on MBC need is a trip of driving around here
http://www.mbclub.co.uk/forums/general-discussion/106988-day-out-shed-celebrate-solstice.html
The idea is to meet up on Loch Lomond around 8am and undertake the following
I recommend the following. Meet about 8am in Helensburgh or at Cameron house at Loch Lomond on Saturday AM.
You'll want to stay overnight in Dumbarton travellodge.
Convoy up Loch Lomond, but dont take the Crianlarach turn. Instead to Inverarry. Over to Dalmally, A82 upto Ballahulish. Take the turn for Kinlochleven. This is a more technical road and a great way to enjoy your car. Dont do more than 60 along here.
Onto Ft William I propose instead of heading to Inverness and up Loch ness we take the A87 to the Kyle of Lochalsh via Glen Garry. You'll get to see Eilan Donnan castle etc. One of the all time great roads and you can go some lick although I prefer a more sedate cruise.
We'll do the Applecross road. (Evo readers will know this). Overnight stop here (Kyle of Lochalsh) and some pies to eat.
From here what we want to do is head over via Torridon.
A Weekend of Benzing
We can head to Ullapool for Lunch if time, or better still if we make good time to the Kyle do an overnight stop in Ullapool. Its a fair bit of driving (about 9-12hours worth).
The Kyle might be the best stop point for the day 1.
Day 2 over via Torridon and/or to Ullapool or back via Achnasheen (brilliant run) to Inverness.
Inverness we can go Speyside see some whisky distillaries etc. I propose then a run over to the east and pick up the A93 to Perth and head over Glenshee and the Balmoral route (dee valley).
Overnight in Perth for the English chaps, back to Helensburgh for me. From Perth its 1 hour to Glasgow and the road back down south
Southern Members.
You'll need to drive up to Scotland on Fridays 2nd September and back Monday 5th. It will take you a whole days driving time and you want to be rested for the run on the Saturday, for it is a good one.
The 1st day involves basically a nice run upto Skye via Kyle of Lochalsh and a few "choice detours". The second day involves a cross country drive to Inverness and down Speyside and via a more eastern route.
This gives you all a varied route and to take in the different types of landscapes scotland offers you.
Money wise, cheap hotels all the way. Nothing will break the bank.
