Just bought a wood steering wheel from them through e-bay, picture showed full wheel (with air bag) & description did'nt mention they were going to remove anything from it. Has arrived minus air-bag , so just got the bare wheel, do you guys think iv been ripped off ?
LINKY Have spoken to their manager,& he thinks what they've done is correct

Yes.

Piccy shows the whole wheel and in the blurb no mention is made of removing anything or a get out clause of "for illustration only", or similar.

No.Everywhere you buy it i does not come with the airbag, unlees they mention it.

Agree with Tyro190. If I buy a car on ebay and it has four wheels and tyres in the piccy I do not expect it to be sat on its wheels with the tyres removed when I collect it. If you catch my drift.

I'd agree that showing it in the picture and not saying otherwise effectively implies that the airbag is part of the sale .

If they will not agree , then I'd reckon you have good grounds for a FULL refund , including all postage . ( Goods not as described , or implied , and I'm sure that's how a small claims court would view it ) .

Did you use Paypal to pay ? This may be one of the rare occasions Paypal will work in your favour as they are usually quick to credit a buyer's account with few , if any , questions . You can then tell Drossfields that the wheel is available for uplift from your address and leave them to pay for the courier .

Beware of sending items back for credit as there have been other reports of goods being returned to them and customers still awaiting credit - several YEARS later !

Thanks for the comments all of you. What i said to their manager was " If i buy a washing machine, i dont expect to be told that the door is extra" I expected to get what was pictured & as described. Its not that i need the bits that they've kept, just that i felt cheated.

Thanks Derek,no intention of sending it back, definitely not. But just wondered if i would be being mean if i left neg feedback

Dronsfields

I think there are rules about sending explosives in the post but they should have made it clear that the airbag wasn't included.

Fact is you didn't get what was shown in the advert.

Scrapyards will remove any part with value, thats how they work. For example buy a door off them and they will remove the glass, doorcard, motor etc.

I would say both parties are right, in the way that the picture includes the Airbag & the advert doesnt mention that no airbag is included. On the other hand the close up pictures arent of the bag, only the wheel.

Cant you use the existing bag John?

Recently bought a heater control unit off Dronsfields, it was cracked and damaged. I emailed them with a photo of it and the very next day I had a replacement. I cant fault their service, but their products arent always in the best condition though...

Maybe a netutal feedback, I wouldnt leave a negative though mate!

I think this is their "get out" clause and may be the reason it wasn't sent. However they should have made that clear in the advert. There are many steering wheels pictured on Ebay without the airbag so this would strenghten your case for a refund.

Thanks Karl, thats exactly what i'm thinking, neutral feedback. Yes, i can use my air-bag but my point is that anything you buy off e-bay should arrive 'AS DESCRIBED' & i don't see that this is what has happened. With the amount of bad feedback they've had in the past (& on here) you'd think they'd learn from it,apparently not !

I doubt they would have removed the airbag if Bennesspipers had collected the wheel in person. ;)

Hi Grober, their storeman 'OFFERED' to sell me the air-bag at extra cost, so i dont think the 'explosives' rule applies to them !

They most deffo would, scrapyards will remove anything of value that you havent paid for!

Airbags arent dangorus or explosive unless power goes through them...

If people don't know how scrapyards work (and why should they?), then the pictures are misleading, and the wording should clarify that you won't get what is depicted (why should they work differently to anyone else?). It's almost the same as trying to charge vat as an extra after the sale "because we're vat reg'd", so I would pursue the matter with them. I would give them the opportunity to rectify the misunderstanding before deciding on your feedback and "taking the matter further", as they may resolve it to your satisfaction, and if not, go the paypal and -ve route.

Hi MD5, i already have given them the chance,i rang their storeman 'LEE' & then rang again & spoke to their manager, both calls resulted in a 'do what you like' attitude.

Im not sticking up for them! but every breakers will sell items in the same way.

Visit any scrapyard (well, all the 10+ ive been to) and you will see the kind of people you are dealing with :o

One day mr Dronsfield will wake up and realise nobody has bought anything from him for a couple of weeks and he will wonder why.

If I received that item minus the airbag then I would feel that I had been cheated - mislead may be a better word. And on that basis I would either want a refund or a reduction - because presumably the other bidders would have bid less if they had known it was without an airbag thus reducing the final bid price. For me that equals a negative feedback - but I would hold off the feedback until later.....

I would drop them a letter telling them that the item was not as decribed and therefore you either want a refund and they collect - or a partial refund of £xx - suggest you ask them for the £££ that they quoted you to buy the airbag from them.
But be warned they will not give you a refund without a fight so stick to your guns; if you paid by paypal then raise a dispute there - it will put the onus on them to recover the money from you and they appear to be so disorganised that they may never get around to it.

On the other hand for 20 or 30 quid it may be easier to put it down to experience and you will be yet one more person that will never buy from them ever again.

Dronsfield and customer service in the same sentence.... lol

I learned my lesson, will not be using them again.

Euromerc,
order placed on 11 dec. polite request for info on 21dec. now the 5 jan no info no replies no parts and they use google checkout which is rubbish.

It seems i have lost £32 for not doing a search on MBclub first.

Not impressed.
