My thoughts are with you

Sorry to hear about that rather large kick in the nuts.

Do what you can when you can and keep going...

It saddens me to hear your news and as others have said, all the forum members are pulling for you.

I don't know you Derek but best wishes for the future.

Derek I'm so sad to read your news, like many others I've enjoyed your company
at several GTG and been very greatful for you friendly advice .
I hope the weather improves and you can get out to enjoy the beautiful countryside
Of Scotland.
Take care
Colin

Derek , really sorry to hear this news . Over the years your sage advice has been much appreciated by myself and many many others . The only advice I can give back to you is to utilise your intelligence , spirit and humour to fight back against this b****** disease . Wishing you all the very best in your battle and thinking of you and yours.Hope to hear from you when you are feeling stronger. Take care fella, the world needs all the good guys it can keep here.

Derek,

Very sorry to hear this.

In 2009 I survived the same type of cancer that killed my 29 years old second cousin just 12 years earlier.

And by some twist of fate I was actually treated by the same consultant who treated my second cousin back in 1997.

The treatment that rid me of my cancer simply did not exist 12 years earlier. So in 1997 he died, while in 2009 I made a full recovery.

My point? Keeping a positive frame of mind is not just a phrase. Existing treatmenrs for all types of disease are getting better every day, and research for new treatments takes place all the time.

My best wishes.

I'm so sorry to read this, Derek.

My heart and thoughts are with you. You have so many members who like and respect you, me definitely being one of them.

Hi Derek,
We have never met - but your presence on this forum has improved my knowledge of Mercedes cars and has improved my life.
I wish you all the best and urge you to do everything you have always wanted to do - whilst you are able to do it - and know that all the regular members of this forum are thinking of you in these tricky times - as you can see from the responses on this thread.
Cheers
Steve

Sorry to learn of this Derek.......MrsB and I will be thinking of both you and Bette.

Sorry to hear this Druk, I wish you well for the future.

If it's any help a friend of mine has had it for ten years and she's approaching 60 but leads a pretty normal "life". However, like you said, tiredness is one of the biggest drawbacks and so she revolves her life around resting with shorter holidays and levels of socialising etc.

Take care

Derek, my thoughts are with you and your family.

Hello Derek, although we do not know each other, the community spirit on this forum makes it feel like a family. I am sorry to hear of your ordeal and I feel for you. As others have said, it's all about keeping positive, focusing on getting better.

I'm currently recovering from bowel cancer, having been lucky enough to be diagnosed early enough that I do not need chemo. What often gets pushed aside is the effort to work your life around trying to get the bowels to work properly and on a routine basis but you get used to it. I did not know whether I would need chemo at the time or how I would be able to handle it but I just stayed positive and focused on getting better.

It's team work. You do your part, the doctors do theirs, and the family provide their support. Together you pull through. It's good news that you have a consultant who is already on the case and knows your background.

This is crap to see :( so sorry to read this.
Sending love from all of us here at PCS xx

Very sorry to hear this.

Great to see the support you have on here Derek from members.
We've been good mates for 20 odd years and I cannot say how I feel about things on here, but you know my thoughts.
Reading this has again brought tears to my eyes, enough said.

See you next week, D.
