What do you need a dual sim phone for ?

Thought they were for drug dealers , one as a private line , one as a work line.

Not a bad idea at all.

Private line / work line, or local sim when traveling abroad.

Unfortunately I don't like much the dual-sim handsets on offer.

I can't remember exactly, but I think you need a dual active SIM phone to make it useful.

Dual standby SIM means you can switch between SIMs to make calls, dual active, as the name suggests, means both are able to make/receive calls at the same time.
