As a fan of personalised plates (4 in our house) I like to browse the DVLA auction catalogue which can be downloaded here

https://www.smaleeds.co.uk/dvla/secure/acrobat.asp?action=download

Is it me or are there some real bargains if you are inlcined to take an age related plate off (and I am concious that its not everyone's cup of tea). Some of he plates look excellent value for money.

One of the most popular threads on the forum is Alfie's unusual number plate thread - so have a look here and see what your bid (plus VAT and premium etc) will buy. Prices quoted are obviously only reserve.

Hello

I'm always looking at these, currently have around 5 numbers either on cars or retention.

I know some people don't see the point but thats everyones choice.

I've seen the one I want at a number plate site but want to try and obtain it by contacting the seller direct. Not having much look.

There are a lot of decent registrations going through, I particularly like the double letter/double number combinations.

Do these generally exceed the reserve significantly?

Depends how popular the combinations are and who else is bidding. Typically they don't go for stupid money, although don't forget the buyers premium & VAT (approx 25% on the hammer price).

Lot 1049 3 O looks very interesting. I can see that going for much much more than the guide of 8K, sure it will comfortably make a 6 figure sum...

It's a shame I didnt see this earlier!
There are two plates that I would love to bid for, but the registration is now closed:mad:

BJ08 YES is available from DVLA for £245
