Dyno Day SSR

wow, i must say, i ordered the v-belt yesterday and it was on my doorstep this morning!

thats good service!

seller was "doctor_car" and well priced at £23

Sounds like a mixture of both would be good then Paul. Olly had suggested opening up my rear boxes and removing some of the internals, but I would someone else to risk it first!

Had the same conversation with olly, go on you do it first tell me what you think:D

Why not :D

my only worry would be the drone but olly says it sounds great, still thinking about it.

My car has to be my every day driver and I often have to go and see clients. I can't turn up with something out of maxpower if you know what I mean. Olly said its probably what I'm after and shouldn't be too loud but won't know until after its done and its not reversible, hence my hesitation. I get a slight drone in my car even now around the 70 - 75mph mark and don't want it to be much worse. Obviously the E55 doesn't like driving at legal speed limits:D

Agree with your comment mine is just a weekend car so not to worried but i do not want to upset the neighbors either:D yet i would still like to hear more of the v8, might help with fuel consumption as well, meaning not having to press the loud pedal so far LOL

Reckon you ought to go for it and then post up some sound clips. Sounds like the fuel saving will be worth it alone. Seems pretty much all the other 55k variants sound better than the e55. Billy's cls, sounded much louder than mine at full chat!

Hi Jules.

Never heard of this, what does it do?

Cheers,
David.

Quick tip on making the car feel alive again, especially if you do motorway mileage and don't get to open it up that often....

1. Get in the car, put the key in and turn to the on position without starting the car
2. Press down fully on the accelerator pedal and hold for 5 seconds
3. Turn the key back to the off position (straight after lifting off the accelerator)
4. Wait for 2 minutes
5. Start the car up and drive

This has probably been posted on here before, but works. It will not affect any maps etc..

Jules.

Hi Dave,

Give it a go, it works. Have a read of some of the pages in Gingers post link, this link is where I first read about it. I spend a lot of time on the motorway, so my driving style automatically becomes quite lazy with minor throttle blips and not much around town spirited driving. When I did this recently I was amazed at how much sharper the throttle responses were, I guess over time it will adapt again to my driving stlye, but then I can reset it again.

Hope all is well?

Jules.

Never got to the bottom of what it does if anything, have checked afterwards in STAR and does not reset adaptations only thing I can think if it does actually do anything is that it resets throttle sensitivity. :dk:

Yes, think you could well be right. Mine certainly feels sharper....and it's not placebo effect lol

Jules

hi Jules, am ok thanks....was reading the MB US link that Ginger posted, its talks about tranny reset but like paul Sav mentioned i understand that can only be reset via star, i think your right it probably just resets pedal, anyway i am gonna try this tomorrow for sure...

For anyone interested i am taking the E55 to a car show tomorrow in Cheshire, it will be on the MB owners club stand...well that's if they let me in lol, should be in the SL (currently in garage few jobs), so not sure they will let me into a classic car show in a 2004 model :-) show link below, be good to meet up with any of you guys...

As far as I am aware it just reset the throttle position ie relearns
But most of our cars will be set to auto adapt, so it will be short lived I am afraid.

Correct it readapts, but feels good whilst it lasts...

When I first got my car there was no discernible difference between S and C mode settings on the gearbox. I reckon it must have been driven around by an old granny as it had no real go when pulling away in S mode. Alps gave me a link to this reset and it made a massive difference and has driven as it should in both settings since that. For me it certainly worked.

Just got back

Okay just got back, not great pics, but power is miles out from SSR, I don't know why, but either way the new map from Jerry has sorted out the richness and added a bit more power.
Car was run is dyno mode and 3rd gear.

Pink line is new map, red old map.

Billy

Did you log the IAT from the ODB port as well, I presume they IAT graphs are taken from a probe in the intake as they decrease as RMP increases. The post supercharger temperatures should do the opposite.
