Hi all,
my e-220 CDi - 2002 (w211) is having problems starting up. It takes quite a few turns to start up and that too it start rough. once started it is fine - no extra noise no misfire no leaking injectors. But quite slow of the line. I have to wait once I press the accelerator to get it to go from the lights. After that its fine.

According to my mechanic one of the injectors needs changing - possibility? also, I do have a set of injectors with me with the part # A611 070 16 87 - while my car has injectors with the part # A611 070 11 87 - do you think they will work intechangebly? I dont want to go buy a new injector (which is quite expensive here in Pakistan) if this is not the case.

I was going to try changing the injector but i've read a few horror stories on the forums so decided not to risk it until someone here helps me out or pumps up my confidence :)
Thanks,
Usman

quick update - I changed the number 3 injector (which was leaking) with another one from another car. Still having starting trouble. At times it starts if I hold the key for 5 secs other times - 3rd or 4th try on the one touch starting. First one or two tries - it does just cranks without any vapor from the back and then one fire - two and then a lumpy start with loads of black smoke.
Once the car starts - it runs just fine - full power - hardly any black smoke even if I push it.
What is odd is that the problem is not the same on every start. I seems as if it has a mind of its own. Please help! I'm desperate now. The car has only done 48K miles.

It sounds like there could still be a leak in the system some where and every time you start the car the system has to bleed it self . Have you checked that all the fuel lines are tight ?

yes - they look tight with all end dry. I've read that people see bubbles etc - but mine are black/not see throuh. Is there another way to check for air leaks?
