I have a 2005 E320 W211 diesel, and the engine will frequently limit itself to 3,000 rpm. After stopping, switching off for 20 seconds, then starting up again, the fault clears itself initially ........... but usually recurs after a few miles. Even when not rev-lmited, the engine is low on power and frequently misfires.
Anyone got any ideas ?
The transmission is also reluctant to kick-down. Could these problems be linked ?

The transmission not kicking down is almost certainly due to the reduced engine power.

Many things could be causing your problem, a faulty sensor, sticking turbo vane, faulty MAFs etc.

Find a local MB Specialist and let them have a look and use Star to look for any stored fault codes. They could also use Star to record live data to try to isolate the problem.

A proper diagnosis will be far quicker and cheaper overall

Eradicating the fault code is one thing ......... more important is curing the fault which gave rise to the fault code.
Can you repair, as well as diagnose ?

no but that lad in sunderland should do . good luck . :thumb:
