Hi all

I see a lot of E class saloons in the uk for 2016/17 plates really low 16 to 18k with low mileage.

My cynical mind tells me I should avoid line the plague with my logic being that there has been issues with electrics ect ect

Or am I being too cynical 🤨?

thoughts ?

Are you equating low mileage with electrical issues, resulting in low usage?

A 2-4 year old MB is no better or worse than any other manufacturers

The E class is a, relatively, mass produced car with large supply on the never never - at that age those new cars are now flooding the used forecourts...

Yes.

As @greenmanslk says plenty about originally sold/leased on finance that will get returned at 3 years old.

That's the way of the MB and BMW market.

And you used to see lots of cars at around a year old - ex hire/fleet cars. Dirty secret of the AU market was (is?) the number of ex-rentals.

Hi

thanks for your feedback yes I suppose I was asking “ why would a person want to get rid after only 20 - 30 thousand miles”

and more to the point it appears a lot of people are. I love mercs had 2011 250 blue eff and currently have 14 plate 350 ML

not a thing has ever gone wrong - I need that because I am rubbish understating cars and engines lol thus my difficult questions I suppose. But I believe I am now more confident to go and buy one.
Thanks all

I think you might be in a minority buying a car for cash and keeping for several years

many “owners” rent (lease) for a few years and move onto another new shiny toy

Very few people buy brand new cars and keep them a long time. If you’re cautious of nearly new cars in case it’s a lemon, you could buy older cars, but they’re even more likely to have issues.
Many cars are financed - PCP or lease - and often mileage limited. The best deals have lower mileage allowances and so a 5-10k miles per annum deal over 2-4 years results in cars at the mileage you mention.

Cars covering more than that distance annually will most often be ex-company cars used for business use, because financing cars covering high mileage is blooming expensive!

I change my car every three years and typically do 8,000 a year. I like new cars!
