E-Class C207 e350 Smart Key stuck in ignition

Had anyone that issue ?

When I am finishing driving gear on P car turned off I am not able to take key away...

Then when I am switching the engine before start then moving gear to R,N,D and back to P I am able to take the key away any idea what that can be and how to fix it ?

Just to clarify I am not able to pick up key straight after I turned off engine and then without turning it on moving gear to R and back sometimes need to move it to R,N,D. But that is on turned off engine. I am then able to remove the key.

This sometimes happens on other cars,one of the ways to remove the key is put your foot on foot brake and then press the button on the gearshift until you hear a sound,then you can remove the key,as for a cure it may be the key needs a new battery,or recoding but to be honest I do not know for certain what the cure is.

The battery in the key is only used for transmitting the lock / unlock commands, it can have no effect on anything else.

For the key to be released the system has to recognise that the gear box is in Park, has anything been spilt by the gear selector? Selector mechanisms can wear or suffer from dirty contacts. It could also be the Electronic Ignition Switch playing up.

A Mercedes Independent with Star could quickly troubleshoot this problem for you.

I had c180 2 yrs ago,
Did that.
Result,
Took the fob key for repair and the sensor were all gone .due to moisture damage.luckly the key ignition system was fine.
Costed me 100quid for new key .

Mecd wanted 160 quid.electrical specialist will do this for 80-100
