E Class C238 Reversing camera stopped working

Hi All.

I have a 2017 E class coupe (C238) with the rear reversing camera that pops out from under the rear badge.

Noticed a couple of weeks ago while car was parked on the drive that the rear badge was open and camera was in the out position. This rectified itself when car was driven.

A few days later, the rear camera stopped working - badge doesn't lift and camera doesn't move to the out position. Display screen changes when putting vehicle into reverse, but is just showing dark screen.

Had a quick look at the fuse box located in the boot space and all fuses ok.

Does anyone have a wiring diagram showing rear camera details?

Also, looking for any information relating to wiring route within the boot lid/space so that I can check for cable damage?

Hi. Had this checked out by my local independant when my vehicle was in for service and NOC sensors replacement a few months ago. They spent quite some time diagnosing the fault. They were able to see that the camera itself was actually working and the issue seemed to be with the camera control module. They advised to book the car in with Mercedes as the replacement module would need coding to the car and the camera calibrating. I've not done this yet as even though not having the camera operational is a nuisance, I'm loathe to spend ridiculous money with Mercedes to get this sorted. Guess at some point I'll just have to "bite the bullet" and get it done.

Old topic, but since there were no solutions available, I'll share my experience.

I had a problem with the rear view camera. When the car was in reverse, the image would only be visible for 1-2 seconds and then it would go black. Eventually, there was no image at all, and the screen was always black when reverse was on.

I checked the trunk wiring and found a broken wire on the right side inside the plastic "hose" through which the wires wind when the trunk is opened.
In my case, a tiny blue wire was as if cut with scissors. Repairing this wire fixed the problem with the rear view camera.
The wires are routed at the trunk hinges, so opening and closing the trunk causes the wires to twist and eventually break.

I’ll have to add that the boot lock control cable runs in the same wiring harness as the wire for the reversing camera.
In my car the boot lock control wire was also cut and was the original reason for looking for broken wires.
Unfortunately, the C238 model only has an electric lock in the boot and cannot be opened from the outside in any other way. Therefore, I had to crawl into the boot through the back seats and dismantle the boot lid interior trim so that I could open the lid from the inside.
