My good lady wants to get back into an auto convertible MB and the E class seems to fit the bill. She enjoyed her CLK (and we still think that it's prettier) - but given the age of them and the fact that they are likely to need work.... Plus the VED seems to have crept up alarmingly!

The sweet spot for her is either the 220 or 250 - is one engine more reliable than the other? I do see the odd 200 - what are they like? Should I be concerned if the car has over 100K miles? Any other comments? Budget around 6K which I have told her is unlikely.

Anybody selling one with a known and good history? HUGE brownie points for white with a red interior - I would be in her good books for at least a week! LOL

My sisters will be up for sale. E350. Diesel but not white.

It’s a low mileage with very good history.

Will it be around our budget?
(It's black if memory serves)

Saw a couple on AT, but when I call up to say the replies sounded evasive would be an understatement! Ah well, no hurry

I tend to shy away from cars with over 100K - should I be concerned if there is a demonstrable service history? Sue will do well under 4K a year

This looks OK? (has a Panoramic roof - can't get more panoramic than a convertible!! LOL)

That looks good and good value (even AT thinks so)

Do your MOT diligence (and something like Car Vertical) then query the Full bit of the service history.

Gearbox services, belts changed (unless chain) tyres, paint work up close, decondition of the roof, then the dealer themselves ???

But if you need an economical diesel vert, that's appears good value....

£6k sounds like a decent well looked after CLK or a tired E class. I know which I'd plump for.

Don't disagree with you - but you ever tried to change a ladies mind?..... 😭
@Darrell - any news? No hurry as we are off to Brindisi for a week from Sunday

Saw my sister on Sunday. Car will be up for sale later this year and the interior is black.

Not much help I’m afraid.
