Does anyone know what the current (new) E class delivery times are? I've been quoted anything from 8 to 20 weeks for a new car or 7-10 days for stock. Anyone know how many in "stock".

My dealers allocation is sold out till late Autumn, but other dealers may have some that are not yet sold. You can sit at the computer with a salesman at your dealer and check model by model what is available. For example if you want Avantgarde 250cdi it will search for those that are in the UK nationwide; and find those cars that are on the way. The computer also shows the build dates of cars where he can alter the spec. So if he has a 250cdi which is still open to change and where the build date is, say, November 10th, then you can choose the detailed spec on that car. You really need to take the time to have a detailed chat with someone in sales. The info is there and if he knows you are a serious buyer likely to order if he finds what you want, he should sit down with you at the computer and go through what is available.
Thanks guys, probably looking at a 350cdi sport with command and leather in one of the two silvers. I've looked at the specs for the Jag XF Audi A6 etc and the MB looks good value.
I lived in belgium for a while , so I keep Mercs until the end but brought forward due scrapage. The scrapped car is 1996 that I bought new. Rust was starting now.
You might want to think about the following : In 1996 I paid £26k; in 2009 I'm paying £28k with a far better spec.
I'm a 30year fan of MB and the whole made in Germany thing .... but .. the plant in China is cheaper and higher quality. I'll change my wife's SLK in two years or so , but by then their sourcing will be Global.
