W210 E-class rust buckets-front suspension turret collapse

I remember seeing a photo in a German magazine a while back showing rust that can
often be seen in the front top turret that holds the springs. Here are some photos from America
that show what will happen to W210's as they get a bit older, the car in question being a 96 E-class.Remember the spring is under compression and the turret must being under quite some load during cornering.

The question is what would happen if the car was doing 90 MPH !?

At some point Stateside MB are going to be sued big time if knowing of this potential failure they have not done a recall.Technicians certainly don't seem to check chassis for rust during services.

The simple answer is that if you want millions of dollars in compensation you really need a good hot coffee to fall into your lap, during or after the incident. Beyond that any incident and what-if is irrelevant.

Celebrate your near miss and get off your butt next time and have a look.

What near miss? I have a c-class on which I can't see any corrosion, however I have read of one 1998 c-class having collapsed, the method of attachment is similar on several models.
