E class towing

status update

tow bar installed
- mechanical from Bosal - Oris
- electrical from Westfalia (no stock for mechanical) - CAN

all is on at this point and it looks like everything works - lights, fog light off on the car ON on the trailer, parking sensor OFF when trailer is ON - all these tested in parking lot only in a rush

when installed in the service they checked the wiring with a tester that was saying about each light that should work. with that tester fog light and parking sensor were not deactivated on the car. After many calls with Local dealer that was in contact with Westfalia the conclusion from Westfalia was if the car has Parktronic the parking sensor cannot be deactivated due to bla bla... I went and connected a caravan and all worked as expected... strange

for coding in the wiring kit package there was a small toy that connects via CAN. selected the care and had two options at the end CGW and PARKTRONIC... not sure what the guy did there tbh. The toy had a token on and once you program once you need more tokens.

upon checking on diagnose (iCarsoft MB II) I can see that in the CGW menu it appears that the trailer is installed, but the module AHE - Trailer Recognition (N28/1) gives a not present error upon reading.

at this point i have no clue if trailer stability program is ON or not... nor there is no message on the dashboard like trailer/caravan connected or something :|

anyone can advise on any of these?

Had the first ride with the tow bar but only with a bike carrier. All was nice and good, much better than putting bikes on top.

One thing I noticed, not sure if it makes sense or not, or if it's a placebo, or worse if it's an issue 😂 was that driving on a country road constantly 60-70 km/h it stays in 7th and when pressing to gas pedal to go faster I felt it required a firmer press this time; like it tried to keep the ride as smooth as possible. If pressed to the ground it immediately shifted down and went on. It would make sense considering you're towing something but I'm not sure that's the case. Anyone had similar experience?

In about a week and half gonna make the first caravan ride. Very excited 😄 gonna revert back with an update.

P.S. adding a picture with the bike carrier just to add a bit of color 😊

Hope that lot weighs less than your 84 kg towbar limit!

60kg (bike carrier included)... Could easily go with the forth one 😁
The bike carrier is rated for 60kg load and it weighs approx 18kg itself... 60 kg is 15kg per bike and given i don't do ebikes (yet!) I should be ok ☺️

so... it DOES tow... and it does it perfect :) all the way to 2000 meters and above...
