French E10 petrol can damage older cars
The ANWB says the biofuel which mixes regular unleaded fuel with Ethanol can damage engines of older cars.
The Netherlands – The Dutch automobile association (ANWB) has warned car drivers about the French petrol E10, a recently launched biofuel which mixes 90 percent regular unleaded fuel with 10 percent ethanol.
In many petrol stations in France, E10 has replaced Euro 95 unleaded.
Regular use of E10 can damage the engines of cars manufactured prior to 2000 and even a few tanks of the new biofuel can lead to problems with pipes and connectors in older cars.
In most French petrol stations, Euro 98 is still readily available.
