E220 / 02 W210 - A few problems?

I have an 02 E220 CDI estate (W210) for about 5 years, a great car, now has 172k mileage. Just replaced the alternator & fan belt this week!
Anyway any advice/pointers would be great

* In the last couple of weeks the car has been turning over but not starting - works with easy start, it is hit & miss the other week it has been parked at Edinburgh Airport for 5 days, covered in snow - started 1st time & had a 220 mile journey back, next morning easy start needed!
* This morning in Wales it needed easy start but the car also initially made a "clicking" sound for a couple of minutes was coming from the top end of the bonnet (near windscreen) drivers side, never heard it before & as the car was warming it it went off - seemed odd

Firstly All Mechanics call Easystart heroin for engines. stop using it as the car will get addicted.

On saying that been there done that.

My E220 had starting problems a couple of months back.
It turned out to need 2 injectors.

If you have the time to check and source replacements you should be able to sort it reasonably cheaply. Mine cost £700.

Could your battery be on the way out?
You did change the alternator after all.

A indy Merc garage should be able to test and tell you how much.

As mine is my new money pit i have my fingers crossed for you.
