I'm not sure if this was something you was after.

I agree it just doesn't sound right.

AMG Rear box on my old CLK270 CDI - They can sound fairly decent... for a Diesel.

When I first got my C220cdi coupe, the exhaust was broken off at the front flexi. Wasn't actually that noisy as Turbo/Cat kills the noise. I made up & fitted a straight through exhaust (no centre box + completely empty Back Box) & it made not a jot of difference to the sound/noise level. Case proven, you can't make a 220 CDi sound any better! :(

Also, the 5 cylinder has quite a distinctive sound to begin with. 👍

LOL.....reminds me of when I replaced my ALFA 159 single exhaust system for the twin exit one from the 2.4s and 3.2V6 models.....my OCD could not live with the partially cut space for the second pipe unoccupied on the rear bumper!!
Anyway while I had the complete pipe of....so just the turbo, downpipe and dpf left I though Id start it up for a giggle....dont lie, you would too!! 😄 Sounded exactly the same as with the full system on!!.....pos a tone deeper but that was it....even when revving it.
The original back box just had a few bits of bent tube in....and none of that fibre wadding you usually get in a silencer. The turbo and the DPF make very good silencers it would seem.
So I just fitted two HKS straight through rear boxes....being two of them it actually finished up quieter than the factory system which was fine as I was only doing it for looks!!! Bad pic found on my phone!!
