e220 cdi avantgarde
I've just bought a MB e220 cdi Avantgarde 2007 plate with 170k and a full documented service history, I've only had it for a month, but last night as I parked it up, there was a very loud noise from the front and the drivers side has dropped It moves forward OK but does anyone have any idea what the cause is likely to be and will it be driveable for about 5 miles to a garage
Regards

Front springs broken low down near the mounting point. It can be driven as long as there's still clearance to turn the wheel without it hitting the arch. It's at your risk though as it could easily drop further at any time.

Thanks for that , I've got 5 or 6 miles to go on good , flat roads, so I may chance it

If it's any consolation, I managed 18 miles to the garage when I broke mine. But obviously it's absolute pot luck if you make it or not. Blame it on the poor quality UK roads and a known W211 weakness.

thanks again, i've got AA cover so I'm going to get them to collect it and tow it to tow it to the garage

If its airmatic mayby one has gone done on that side, its a common problem
