Halfords would do as they have genuine Bosch wiper blades and that is what MB use as OEM wipers but check prices to see if Stealers are the same. I bought a set of Bosch wipers yesterday for my sister's car as OEM Ford ones are rubbish on her new car. Cost me £20 for the set.

They are vey easy to fit - you press on the clip to release blade and when fitting you push wipers in place until you hear click - Bosch wipers also come with instructions...;)

PS. Be careful not to slice your finger tips as the rubber blade is razor sharp like paper and in the fitting process I made mistake of firmly gripping on to the rubber and cut the tip on three of my fingers. Personally, I do not believe in rubber refills which is the cheaper option and always opt to change the entire blade for best performance.

It's worth ringing round a few places. For my E, the cheapest place was the MB dealer, surprisingly. Motor World were almost twice the price and Halfords couldn't get them.

However, for the 190 yesterday, dealers quoted £15.13 (one big single wiper) and Motor World are getting one in (as they only stock Champion, but can order Bosch) at £8.99!

As others will tell you, stick to Bosch only. They last much longer than any others and are not usually that much more expensive.

where from please?

And on the subject of wiper blades :) - anyone have an idea how I can find out what the part number for this is? It's not on the Halfords listings nor the Bosch website (and would be a bit pricey from Germany for what it is).

AeroTwins have been discussed on this forum before, and several links to vendors were posted. Got mine in a French supermarket for about €15.

sorry was in a rush in writing earlier post so didnt complete what i wanted to write in full!

Parked up outside the shop, went inside asked that i needed a new wiper

chap came outside to the car, took off the old one (two second job)

Inside the shop he said

a replacement rubber was £1.50 FITTED

or the entire blade fitted was £8.95

Chap said it was just the rubber which was knackerd and it was down to me. undecided as i was he then asked if i travel a lot - plenty of motorway miles etc to which i said yes, better take the whole blade then he said. paid the chap £8.95 out he came with me to my car and fitted in the new one (again a two second job). Told me if owt goes wrong within the year to come back again and he would replace it for nowt. Tried paying him £2 for the fitting, he wouldnt take it, i insisted and he still wouldnt. Thanked him for his custom and off i went!

Now this shop (asian owned) is notorius for getting good quality parts cheap and providing an excellent service to go with it, they have been around since i was a kid almost 20 years. They dont fit or install, but i take it as replacing my wiper was a two second job and as they werent particularly busy at the time - they must have thought what the hell!)

Will i go back to them again erm ........ YES !!!

After forking out £662 for alternator this week, i thought that everything is a rat-race - (who can make the most money etc). and that there were few honest and genuine people in this world - today it felt good to be proved wrong! :)

PS this shop is in Blackburn, Lancashire

PM me and i will reply with the address and tel. number!

BTW!!!
The merc manual states that the replacement of the wiper should be done by your mercedes service centre!!! (i wonder how much for?!)

Its not rocket science replacing wiper blades and is child's play ;)

Even if you had bought the blade from the Stealer (who do price them reasonably) they too would fit it FOC just like they replace headlamp bulbs which can be awkard to replace on some of the models!

Off Topic: Whilst I was sorting out the wiper blades yesterday on my sister's car I popped in to the "new" local Ford Stealer (the previous nice friendly Dealership has now unfortunately closed down) to purchase a “third level” brake light bulb. However, Service Advisor was not helpful and wanted 15 mins labour which calculated £22 to have someone install the bulb... I rapidly declined the offer and it had taken me less than two mins to replace once I had opened the boot and released the clips from the inside.

Thanks. Did do a search but came up with minimal references!

i agree totally with you Flash, it isnt rocket science - but isnt it nice when they go the extra mile to thank you for your custom.

I was in the States not too long ago and over there when you pull into a filling station they fill up for you, check your tyres and take the payment from you without you even having to leave the car. There is no additional cost for any of this - its all part of the service! I must admit when i was there it made me value the extra service 'going the extra mile with customers' and so on. Iv always thought the buzz words in any part of customer service was 'retention' retaining customers.

In the UK just recently Esso announced to inflate your tyres at there filling stations will cost you 50p as they 'contracting the work to another company', try finding a service station that offers 'free air' and they are few and far between.

As for the ford dealer wanting to charge £22 pound to change a lightbulb - huh! Still you could do worse, neighbour has an Audi A3 '51' registerd and he cant even access his brake lightbulb not even the kwikfit garage down the road could. Its something Audi have done with the design of the car which means you have difficulty in accessing it - and it can only be changed by a dealer - the cost of changing this lightbulb £60. the cost of changing it on my 2000 civic by myself 40p

The stealers have now taken the art of ripping customers off to the highest level - time to get tough and hit them where it hurts there profit margin!

There are a pair of Aerotwins for the W211 on eBay at the moment for £12.48 incl.

As far as I was concerned, it was by the by anyway as I was after the Aerotwin rear wiper (as shown in the link I posted).

I've bought a far bit of stuff from Germany myself as well, mainly bicycle parts (road biking being my main pastime - hence my estate). Germans tend to simply go for bank transfers between themselves as apparently many don't have and use credit cards the way we do - and I believe the bank transfers are free to them, whereas we have to pay a fee. So they don't need Paypal.

For stuff that costs say €20 - €30, I tend to just send cash in an envelope to avoid paying fees for the transfer (and I tend only to buy from those with immaculate feedback).

The seller for the item I was looking at does in fact take Paypal, but they want the 4% fee paid. So this is on top of the cost of the item and the postage to UK. All a bit pricey just for the sake of a bling wiper!

As you can get Bosch stuff in the UK, I just need to find out what the part number is :)
