97 E230
Hi, a newbie here.. A newbie with a broken down E230, from around '97..
It has the old Infra-Red LED type alarm & it unlocks the doors, but fails to disable the immobiliser (leaving the green & red mirror lights flashing alternately).. Tried leaving the battery off for ages, & fitted new cells in the remote control..
Any ideas???
Thanks in advance,
Jon'

You need to re synch the remote to the car.

Ah-Ha! Synch! This sounds promising.. If only I knew how..
Any ideas/advice muchly appreciated!!!
Cheers!

This might work.

A. Press the locking (2) or unlocking (3) Twice momentarily.
B. Within 30 seconds turn the key to position 2

Nope.. Nothing works as yet.. Probably scrap it before it rusts even further away.. What a pile of junk!
Thanks anyway for the assistance..

Was the remote fob ever opened into 2 halves, there might or might not be an immobiliser chip located near the Red lens as illustrated below, if it is missing or loose, the chip wont interact with a coil around the ignition so the car wont start. Open the remote with great care so as you don’t lose the chip… if indeed you have a chip.
