E280 CDI - Surely this is a bargain?

Yes, almost too good to be true! 17k miles in 5 years? I would need some convincing. But if it actually checks out as straight, then it certainly seems like a good buy. Trade pric is £13.5k.

the pics are scanned in.. probably from a magazine or something.

I agree the price seems wrong but it looks too cheap to be a convincing scam - more likely this is a typo and the asking price is £16+k and not £10+k. The vendor has given his name and presumably the car is there to be inspected and have its history checked? How would a scam work?

Saw a lot of these on AutoTrader last year 'Phone not working - only by e-mail' type ad's, apparently they just take pictures from anyway (even parked cars in the street) and upload them for sale.

Be nice if it was that price though:D

I've emailed him telling him the no. doesn't work and maybe he could send me a better number. I'll let you know what happens.

Same phone no, different name and location.

Phonesafe:
If you have ever sold a car privately there is a good chance you will have been pestered by canvassers at some point. PistonHeads is now offering sellers the opportunity to eliminate this aggravation by using a 'PhoneSafe' number in place of their own telephone numbers.

So it isn't his number anyway, its a PistonHeads supplied one.

PhoneSafe blocks calls from known canvassers and leaves you free to answer queries from people genuinely interested in buying your vehicle.

That must be you then umedc, they're blocking you as a canvasser :D:rolleyes:

Everyone's being blocked.

The after market exhausts are chavy, but at that price its too good to be true and therefore a scam.

these sorts of scams usually work by extracting a holding deposit out of you befor you even see the car..

get 10 people giving him £200 a go and thats good work for a week..

I nearly fell for one of those a few years ago. Audi A3 3.2 Quattro sport 1 yr old 15k miles was on eBay for £6800 (it was worth about £17k at the time) and there was some sop story about it being sold to pay for a relatives health care.

I did think it was a scam, or I was dealing with someone very stupid and I was going to get a nice car very cheap. I emailed him saying that I would be on the 1st plane down to London with £6800 cash and I'd collect it then and there. He demanded a deposit of £2k via western union (as soon as you see that there is a scam) as this was the quickest way to seal the deal. I said no as this would "slow up things", as I'd be with him 1st thing the next day with cash but I'd have to see the car, SH (and I'd HPI it). Never did get that Audi A3. The email exchanges then degenerated a bit but it was fun trying to watch him weasel the money from me

Total scam. How much would it cost to "ship" a car from spain. Either have some fun but really you should report it...
