E280 Sport paddle shifters.

I have a late 2006 E280 Sport with the paddle shifters on the steering wheel.

I rarely use them but when I did the other day, the down shift wasn't working correctly.

On further inspection I noticed that the unit was not located correctly in the wheel and would probably come off if I pulled it.

Although the bottom edge seems to have popped out of the wheel, it will not click back in.

Has anyone had any experience of removing or replacing the shifters?

if mine is u/s, I take it a main dealer would be the only place to get the part.

Hi

It is screwed on from inside, although sounds like yours has broken. I may have a new set at work of the plastic ones, or you can put the nice metal ones on also.

Thanks for the replies. Do you have to remove the wheel front and air bag then you can get to the screws for the shifters?

Yes, mine is probably broken.
