E280cdi sport exhaust - normal?

Keep looking , there are good ones out there! One might even turn up on the forum, take it you have checked the ' classified for sale ' section

Yeah, almost nothing within 35miles from London. Don't really fancy going any further as I have a little one to take care of and not much time during the week.
I even consider just sending a mechanic to what seems like a good example, paperwork, talking to seller, all the MOT and service checks etc, to inspect it for me, then just buying this way? In the end I know this model pretty well. Its just about choosing the right example. Thoughts?

Btw there is plenty of BMW's around here though haha :D

Yes! I did have a look, nothing at the moment, also the Traders thread, there is a few from Mercland. Is that sponsored or actually recommended dealer?

Mercland are a Forum sponsor and are specialists in used MB.
As it happens I have bought an ML from them and was highly delighted with it, sold it back to them when I wanted to change to somethings smaller . I saw the car on the website and drove up from South Wales and did the deal, car was as expected and they agreed one or two items to be sorted plus a gearbox service I wanted at a very good price and I picked it up a few days later . Would have no hesitation in recommending them or buying another car if I needed one. Try ringing and speaking to the boss ( Jay Manek ) or email them , I got a personal response from him within a couple of hours over last Christmas ! Suspect if he has nothing in stock he could source one. Safer than buying privately even if a little dearer.

Can someone please ask pachenga (mentioned earlier) to contact me regarding his e280cdi 2007 for sale? I am still few posts short to be able to respond to classified sale ads. Thanks

Thank you for contacting me.
I end up buying my MB w211 2009 e280cdi sport in grey. Relatively low mileage for the age. Everything is in really good condition inside, as expected! Drives very well and pulls nicely. Have done only few hundreds miles so far. Really good mpg on a motorway.
Wheels were not aligned though so needed to do it. Also even though the thread is about 5-6mm those are Accelera and Apollo tyres.. will have to replace them with proper ones as soon as I have £500 spare! Haha. Damn those rear 265 tyres are expensive.
Very happy with the purchase so far. Love the big boot, baby is happy in the back.
Thank you to everyone for all the advise and feedback.

Also question. Where is the aux input? The thing in the glove box - cant really open the cap. Its like its glued. Am I looking in the right place?

Exhausts normal for non DPF car.

The one you looked at looked a bit tatty and not well looked after.

At £6k you should be able to find a 2008/9 E320 (W211).

Service records went 'on-line' in 2008 so much easier to verify miles.

Don't worry about miles too much, look for good history, good cared for condition.

My early 2009 E320 was also without DPF Ex factory.

Roof of glove box towards the front. Bit fiddley to find first time. Std 3.5mm mini jack socket but get one with cable exiting at 90°.

Car looks real nice. Enjoy.

Is it this? Should it be easy to open? Seems I would have to use very big force to open the small cap

I bought my 2009 E280 CDI Sports Estate from Mercland about 5 years ago.
I have worked it hard and it has served me well for 65k miles.
I recently drove it hard from Cornwall to Leeds (~400 miles) and it returned 38 to the gallon and drove like a train.
It's been a good work-horse.
The tail pipes always look black.
The rear end has always looked low.
...... and YES - Those rear tyres are expensive.

Yeah thats my experience to, so far. Motorway mpg is fantastic, together with sitting in the traffic at the start and end of the trip it returns about 39mpg too.

Mine has the Accellera in the rear and Apollo in the front fitted. Both budget not very good ones. I have about 5-6mm left on them but already looking forward to fitting Goodyear F1 Assymetric 5 on the car.
What tyres have you got?

Just spotted the pic of the new E280, looks nice, still think these cars look very elegant. I also thought the interior exceedingly nice and in many ways prefered the W211 interior to the W212 which followed it. Bit of a traditionalist and like wood and leather in car interiors. Mine was a 2009 and by the time I traded it in had 117,000 on the clock. The interior was immaculate and looked almost new, the bodywork also stood the test of time well it polished up nice. I generally drive like a funeral director and liked the way it just wafted along on the motorway, the stand up star on the front made a bit of a statement... But when occasion arose and the right foot got a bit heavy it did pick up its skirts a bit.

Yep the tyres are a bit of a £££ shocker. When I got mine it had budget tyres fitted. I swapped first to Mich Pilot Sport 4 but discovered that new they only had 7mm of tread and they didn't last as long as I had hoped at around 20,000. Next tyres were Pirelli P Zero which had 8mm new (I checked before they were fitted) and whilst these wee still good when i traded in they looked to be wearin well.

The premium tyres made the car feel a bit more settled and were a tad quierter.

If you're looking at getting the tracking done find somewhere that will do a full 4 wheel alignment. Avoid Kwik Fit they have the kit to do 4 wheel alignment but they wouldn't do anything other then the fronts. I found a place that do full job on checking front & rear track was out and front camber was out too. They corrected the front track and camber (fitted a new camber bolt) and the backs came into spec.

Enjoy the car.

Thats the situation I am in now. Also the front tyres are different. For some reason there is one almost new. How soon after the purchase have you swapped them? I am really considering it taking into account how bad some of those budget ones are in the wet.
Only hesitate because I still have 5-6mm thread left.

I did the front only now because it was very affordable and I didn't want to do it all over when I change the tyres. So need to decide if I am getting the tyres now so that I can do proper wheel alignment.
One garage with Hudson (name might be wrong) machine quoted me £140+vat for this. Have you guys got any ideas on the price of 4 wheel alignment? Including all the angles, camber etc.
Thanks

Also any advise on the tyre and alignment situation from experienced drivers is very welcome!
