E300 Ignition remote

Hi All I have my 1999 e300td I just found my spare remote and it workes fine with opening and closing the car. It wont turn in the ignition switch. I replaced the battery's and still the same. I think it has lost its code. Has anyone had the same problem!! any ideas or suggestions before i pay £300 to a merc dealer

There is no way YOU can reprogram it. If it does not work with your ignition but other one works just fine then that one is useless (unless you want to use it for doors only).

Someone here said he had problem with loose part on a board and he fixed it. Maybe the same problem on yours. (but that possibly was for doors as well)
