E300 start problems.

HI Folks.
Problem with E300 TD 1999.

About 4 weeks ago, car wouldnt start, fuel gauge was showing low so put fuel in and car started. Car run fine until.
2 weeks ago car wouldnt start but lots of fuel in, took a long time to start and used Quickstart spray.

Last week, while slowing down at lights, car died, had to start using quickstart again.
Yesterday, car started ok, but when pulling away, car died but restarted on thrid attempt. 5mins later same thing happened again, and similar thing this morning.

Any thoughts and suggestions much appreciated.

i suspect you have the classic E300D fuel strainer/filter/pre-filter blockage or even a fuel line leak.

do a search for fuel strainer

Most likely a fuel problem, caused by blocked filters or o rings on plastic fuel lines or o ring on stop solenoid.

Look for air bubbles in plastic pipes.

Thanks for your replies.
Replaced seal on pump delivery valve, O rings on fuel lines, and fitted 1 way valve to fuel feed pipe. Runs like a dream now, just need to sort out rusty wings.
