Can anyone help please? E300 Hybrid stuck on the hybrid and doesn't go back to Diesel. I took it to independent Mercedes for Diagnose. Advised the starter motor needs replacing. I did replace it in a local Garage but the car still same I rang independent Mercedes againe and they said you need reprogramming after starter motor replacement. Any advice please?

Assuming they know what they are doing with the hybrid system they mean the car needs to be attached to the MB Star system to clear the original fault codes and reset the system for the new starter.
If they have Star the Indi should be able to do it, otherwise a trip to your local MB dealer needed.

Hopefully other more technically informed forum members will also comment , or correct me, but the information you have been given seems logical. I gather these hybrid systems are complex and not all garages ( even MB specialists ) have mechanics fully trained or equipt to deal with them.

Many parts need coding/programmed to the car, and not just some guy with a spanner replacing bits.
SCN coding I believe its called

How old is the car, how many miles done?

Thanks for all the reply.
The car is 2014 E300 Hybrid the mileage is around 79k.

ShaunB you are right. But the price they give you sometime in the dealers and inde is ridiculous.they push you to go to the local Garages. I have been quoted about £1100 for starter motor even with inde.

Do you know what part (brand) was used?

I am slightly confused here. It's my understanding that in the non plugin E300 diesel hybrid it's the inline hybrid motor that functions as the starter as well as hybrid drive unit [ meaning there's no "starter motor as such" ] see this video- the sound is very faint so you will have to turn it up. HOWEVER its entirely possible that they did not adopt that "all in system for the E300h, as consulting the EPC does indicate both alternator and starter for that model????? STARTER MERCEDES E-KLASSE [Car] [CHASSIS] (EUROPA)

Should have added that in the parts listing above it specifically mentions that cars with option 450/965 ??? need to have their engine control unit reprogrammed after a replacement starter is fitted
