There is a disc shaped chamber on top of the diesel pump, this has an adjuster with lock nut under a black plastic cover, what is this adjust.

Does anyone know what this is for and how to adjust it ?

It's the altitude adjuster. Leave it alone.

Its a bit late, the reason I ask is that the locknut was loose and it was screwed right out

I assume if if its a an altitude it will make the mixture richer/weaker any idea on a base setting or what differenge screwing in/out would make:confused:

Can't you just screw it back in until the locknut is binding, then give it a tweak to lock it.

I was going to set it midway on its travel but I wanted to know what it did and why someone had screwed it right out first,
