There is a buzzing sound coming from under the driver's side dash just to the left of the steering column. The buzzing ceases when the hazard lights and turn signals are engaged. The dash instruments have also bid goodbye. A fuse and a turn signal relay problem? I'm not certain where to look...

Pull the instrument cluster out and check the earth connections behind the sound deadning. A bad earth may cause your problem.

She's dead now too...won't turn over

Thank you. I'll look up some posts on how to pull an instrument cluster.

The relay turned out to be part number 201 821 00 47 and was located behind the fuse box in the engine compartment. To get to it you have to remove some screws and then a black plastic cover. There are several relays back there. Here's the problem...the car won't start. The relay is for the flashers. Fuse #6 in the fuse box controls the starter, instrument cluster, OVP and other things. I checked it and for good measure replaced it. Still no juice to the starter. Would a bad flasher relay kill the whole circuit? Is the flasher relay fed by the #6 fuse?

Those relays are known to give problems - I think it is also the relay for the wipers. It is quite expensive from MB problem is used ones may go the same way. I can not see why that would stop the car turning over though. Unless there is a link with the starter inhibitor circuit on the auto transmission - but then you would still get instrument lights. Strange. Maybe it is a bad earth - have you checked the main engine earth strap?

I suspect the ignition switch or the feed to it is faulty.
