Hi, need as much info on the titled car 220 bhp one, need info from tech data 0-60 0-100 time as well as runin cost service to fuel. Would also like to no info on getting one chiped and what difference it would make to the above.
Bloke at worked driven one the other week and said it was quick.
Cheers

Nobody got 1 had 1 then, could anybody direct me to any sites with the information needed.
Cheers

I had an Estate, I assume you are talking 211 rather than 210?
Fuel consumption is dependent on how heavy your right foot is, 0-60 is quick, you wouldnt necessarily know it was diesel quick!
Running costs are not expensive if you have a good indie, expensive if you go main dealer route.
They are quick, you can get them chipped, but I would try one first, 150mph+ and good acceleration, it will give most cars on the road a fright!

Yes!

In 2003, the E320 CDi had an inline 6 engine with 204bhp.

I think the 220bhp came in 2006? This had a V6

According to Parkers, the inline 6 had a 0-60 of 7.5 seconds, 151 mph, the V6 0-6 0 in 6.6 secs, 155mph top speed.

I get an average 33-34mpg.

Cheers for the replys, anybody had 1 chiped and what they like for speed. Just done abit of reserch and I think it was 275ish bhp.

0-60, 0-100, bhp are all very well, but I think torque vs. rpm would be the most interesting graph to look at. Does anyone have this?

Hi,

I have a 2004 E320 CDi with the 3.2 Inline-6 and that pushed out 219bhp as standard when tesed on the rolling road.

It's worth having the car's ECU re-maped, I had mine remaped and it's deffo worth it!

Took the car from 219bhp to 267.7bhp and 412lbft torque (557nm) you can also ask for the turbo lag to be reduced which they did on mine and it shows, now it's perfect, no need to push your foot half way down just a tap on the gas and the car jump 2 cars in front and I also have a Sprintbooster on mine which make it even better to drive.. just the way I like it :D

Not to mention the noticable improvment on the mpg, I average around 31-33mpg around town and once you hit the motorway it's even better I did 24miles last night and managed 44mpg easily cruising at 70-80mph.

Having said all that if you are looking for 'speed' then just don't mess around head straight for an AMG!

Hope that helps!

sounds bob on, was looking into AMG but don't like the runin cost. Wanted some thing on par speed wise as the Subaru but more grown up if you no what I mean.

What are the mechanical drawbacks to a re-map? It´s obviously a lot harder on the engine isn´t it?

I don't really know but all I know, i've re-maped 4 cars now and they all seem to run alot smoother after the re-map and nicer to drive, which is the main thing for me!:thumb:

I get 100K Warranty with my re-map so if anything happens I just take it back but so far so good.:)

I´m curious now.

Do Mercedes do this, or is a specialist?

Basically saying that the car is built to do 267.bhp, but that it has been limited, and this is effectively reversing the limiting?

Also, I´m guessing you have to let your insurance company know about it? That is if you want them to pay up in a claim. How does that affect the premium?

Thanks for the link. Do you know why the curves being at 1900 rpm?

I'm not sure. Someone I went driving with from the High Performance Club sent me the link showing where the power band is, and where I should keep the revs.

Looking at www.upscaleauto.com they appear to be a diesel tuning company in the US.

Might think this is a no no and the case may be, them turning boxes on fleebay Type in E320 performane and it will bring them up. Question is are these ok for mercs, my bro fitted one to his 320d BMW and my mate fitted to to his vectra both did what they said on the tin, and both still going strong today. Any thought on these or would a remap be best as it's custom. How much are remaps for the E320 CDI

I'd avoid the tuning boxes, they're a cheap way of altering the fuelling to make it feel quicker but the cheaper ones just fool the engine into adding more fuel, if you turn them up too much you'll get errors and the engine will go into protection / limp mode.

A proper remap is more driveable, yes it's dearer but well worth it - my Volvo was remapped and so much better to drive afterwards.

Always remember that engines in their standard tune are designed for minimum warranty claims, so yes there's more strain on parts (especially drivetrain - gearboxes and diffs etc) but only when you're using the power, and unless you're drag racing on a daily basis it's unlikely you'll make a significant shortening of the life of the car, my volvo destroyed an engine mount though having said that...

As for performance, the 320 in standard form is going to be quick enough if you're used to a UK scooby, it's a bigger and heavier car, and the steering feel and handling are brilliant but you've not got the AWD traction so if you venture into ESP off territory be careful! Chipped and it'll keep up with most things on the road in a straight line.

Thought as much but wanted to here from somebody else, my scoobs been remaped and it's runnng a hybrid TD04 plus some other mods, at the mo it's making 316-301. But mpg ain't really good 13-16. So my thinking is get a quick CDI merc and keep the scoob as a weekend toy.

Yes Mercedes can do this on the new CDi's with the 3.0 V6, they fit a Brabus chip which pushes the car from 220bhp to 275bhp and 590nm torque but mine has been done by West-Tuning!

I know a friend with a CDi which has over 280bhp and it's the 3.2L in-line 6 model.

I was told the re-map is undetectable but it's better to be safe than sorry, my premium went up by £114 a year!
