I have a cooling fan problem, it will not come on at all at any temp and a fault message comes up saying "coolant visit workshop", have had my local garage do a diagnostic on it and despite having it for 3 days could not come up with a solution, they have checked the wiring and connections, changed 2 temp sensors, checked fluid level, checked operation of fan via a separate supply and everything appears fine, have seen on this site that the ECU can be a problem, if so can I change it separate to the fan and shroud if not will the fan unit off a e220 CDI fit my car ( e320 CDI ), please help.

Not totally sure if it relates to the w211 but i remember reading that the cooling fan operation kick in temp can be raised to a higher reading. Before the fan kicks in. I could be this just a thought.

Hope you get it sorted you need that cooling fan this weather.
