e320 cdi, 525tds bmw,
Hi ya lads,

could 1 of you good people help me please....?

I have e320 cdi & im about to change my injector copper seats, (there little bubbles of fuel, & little puff of air).

i as my parts.. seals copper.- bolts.

but im not sure which way round the copper seats go. is it..

tapered up...towards the injector...?
or
tapered down...toward the head...?

hope this makes sense,
thanks all for any help.
laters....

Use MB ones only.

They are non sided crushable copper washers.

Don't re-cut the seats in the head but polish them before installing the injectors and washers,
use new stretch bolts after thoroughly cleaning the threads in the head also.

Don't for get the ceramic MB grease for lubricating the injector body on re-installation.

^^as above

cannot emphasize enough on cleaning the bolt thread hole

also get a torque wrench and torque to 7nm +90deg +90deg

before you start, get the engine VERY hot

hi lads, how you doing.?

alittle thing hopefully you can help my mind with please..

we started to tackle the number 3 injector last week, without the tool.

we got it out, about 5mm from were it seats, now its stuck... (great... not...)

i have ordered a puller tool from amazon (but we live rep' of ireland, & thing's take so long to get here.. if you buy certain things here they cost either a kidney or re-motage, haha...but i like were we live, im not moaning & im english, but....)

the tool was ordered on 20th april, should of had it yesturday (29th) but no..

the thing i want to ask you lads is, please...
now that my engine is cold,
injector 5mm out from its seat,
i cant re-start the car, (w211 320cdi think its 648 model).

will this puller tool still....
do its job.?
easy.?

or will it be a pain in the rear now.?

i have a stanley hot air gun, its 450 degree heat blower, its not worth blowing the injector for few minutes is it.?

any help that you can ease my thought's on this will be great.
we (my father mostly..) as done w210 3litre d, & bmw 525tds (the bolt in-out 1's) over a cup of tea, but the cdi seem a pain.
& from what ive red a lot of folk are saying same thing & having problems with them..

good old 1997 w210 diesel & 1998 525tds models.

cheers lads.

If you have managed to move it, can you not wiggle it with some mole grips?

A puller should get it out, just be careful whatever you use not to damage the rocker cover. I cannot comment on the air gun as have not tried it but others will know better.

Try this first.

Use carb cleaner and diesel mixed 70%-30% soak the injector base and attempt to wiggle it side to side after an hour or so keep repeating this until it comes out.

Overnight soaking helps if you have the patience.

Good Luck

hi ya lads,

thanks for reply. & your pointers..
makes me think it'l work ok...
cheers,
ye il try the carb/diesel mix around it..
gis a short time & il be back n let you no, how it goes.

so i got another 1 from the uk sent over to fairly quick, il give you the guys name n number, there fairly quick at post / delivery..

but.... im not 100% of how to use it... 75% idea yes (i think)..

thanks all.

my idea of its use is....

i take the top of the injector (electrical part off) alan key is..

remove the bolt & its plate that holds the injector down.

i put the claw like thing around the injector,

then bolt the proper size thing to the top of the injector which in turn lifts out the injector,

am i correct..?
i cant find any help on the net any were, i have looked for a few hrs, last place is ask 1 u guys.

cheers again...

leave the top of the injector on and put the claw in where the retaining clamp seats on the injector and hammer away.

You can unscrew the top of the injector and use the insert to attach to the top of it but you might loose some internal parts and/or need the injector re-calibrating.

cheers e270 owner,

il go take a look.....

cheers for your reply & help.... (il be back all.)

yo lads... good news... & thanks for your help.

the puller tool we had, i had to get the angle grinder & just shave the edge down for it to fit. but few smacks with hammer n out.. cleaned it all up... & it fell in.. bolt up & brum brum...
thanks lads for your help..

(what you say..long last... i/we got let down on the tool delivery, but we got there in the end.. )
