Has anyone seen this article on 36 x E320 CDI's driving from Paris to Beijing?

This is the first stage Paris to St Petersburg on the first of five legs making up Mercedes' 8450-mile trek to Beijing.

I've got a friend of mine doing the Peking to Paris rally next May in a 1959 VW Beetle....I am very jealous.....although I was horrified to find out that the fee to join this little jaunt was £32k !!!!!!!!

Luckily sponsorship is paying for a lot of it, but even so

I signed for this as well, and also didn't get selected! Dammit!

Actually, the W211 320CDI set the world 100,000km endurance record, at an average speed for 224.8km/hr - not bad really!

I have just found out that one of my colleagues was one of the drivers. He had a great time by all accounts.

i too applied to be a driver, but was unlucky not to be selected. followed the whole journey via the website, very good coverage. here is the website address it is still active, hope this link works!
